This short story was about a struggle of the up bringing young girl back in the early 1940's. As a young girl she was in the center of everyones attention. Even at church for easter Sunday's she said poems and everyone on the church would think she was a lot for her age.She always wore pretty pink clothes until one day she wanted to wear cowboy hats and boots. She and her family loved western themes from movies to wearing the clothing.
Alice Walker's dad purchased her two brothers a gun she wondered why she couldn't have a gun as her brother's did. The guns of her brothers caused her the tragedy one day using their bb guns one day while she was sitting on the roof an accident happened the pellet from one of her brothers gun hit her in the eye with a strong impact. After this happened she felt estranged from the true person se was she noticed the difference because of her eye. She didn't look up anymore she thought everyone doesn't see her as the cute little girl she once was. Life back then was very hard for a lot of people I just wish it all would of went differently far as the poverty level and differences.
